How to Find Peace Living in Today’s Perilous World
How do we find peace living in today’s perilous world? It is discouraging when every day we hear bad news around the world, as well as in our local environments, of wars, natural disasters, violence, and spiritual warfare. It’s enough for anyone to feel fearful, wanting peace and comfort. While Christians are not immune to suffering and the impacts of peril in this world, we can find peace and comfort, and protection in Christ if we trust Him.

Pray to Find the Peace of God
As faithful Christians in Christ Jesus, we all know what the power of prayer can do. Prayer changes things when we have faith and believe, with our whole hearts, that whatever we ask for, we will receive according to His will. God’s power, through prayer, can move mighty mountains in our lives, it can heal and restore, and provide salvation. And, we can be confident this same power can provide peace and comfort, and shelter in this stormy-weathered world.
Philippians 4:6 “And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Jesus is a symbol of peace and He has overcome this world. He has overcome every sickness, disease, social ill, atrocity, and natural disaster. These are all contrary to His Word and creation and are not of His making. War is not of His making, violence is not of His making, poverty, homelessness, famine, etc., are all man-made and influenced by Satan. He foresaw what this world would be like today and warned us that we would have tribulations to contend with. However, He comforts us by advising that we can find peace in Him.
“War is not of His making, violence is not of His making, poverty, homelessness, famine, etc. He foresaw what this world would be like today, and warned us that we would have tribulations. And that we can find peace in Him.”

John 16:33 “These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace. In the world, ye shall have tribulation. But, be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
God created a peaceful world for all of us to live in harmony with one another. And since this world is not what He intended for us to live in, He will give us peace and protection from the troubles of this world. He will be our anchor in the midst of the storm in this world. He promised to never leave nor forsake us; nor leave us comfortless, that the Holy Ghost will be our Comforter. Therefore, we must unlock this promise by praying and seeking Him diligently for peace.
“And since this world is not what He intended for us to live in, He will give us peace and protection from the troubles of this world. He will be our anchor in the midst of storm in this world.”

Trust in God to Find Peace
Essentially, to find peace in God, we must exercise trust in Him. However, He also requires us to have faith in Him and believe, in order to receive our fulfilled promises. When we put our trust in God, we are telling Him that we are dependent on Him. That we are weak and helpless, and we need to rely on Him to sustain us in life. This dependency pleases Him because this is His will for us. What’s more, when we trust Him, we are resting in His power, control, and authority over all situations in our lives. In Christ we trust, and in Him only, can we find peace, comfort, and protection to sustain us in life.
“When we put our trust in God, we are telling him that we’re depending on Him. That we are weak and helpless, and we need to rely on Him to sustain us in life.”

Psalm 4:8 “I will both lay me down in peace and sleep. For Thou, Lord, only makes me dwell in safety.”
On the other hand, if we don’t put our trust in Christ, and we lack faith, then we will not receive any blessings from Him. You cannot believe in something or someone if you don’t demonstrate trust and faith. Above all, you must have hope. Without hope, you cannot expect to receive anything. Hope keeps us alive and gives us the expectation to receive blessings from the Lord.
Isaiah 26:3-4 “Thou will keep him in perfect peace, in whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusts in thee. Trust ye in the Lord forever. For in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength.”
“Without hope, you cannot expect to receive anything. Hope keeps us alive and gives us the expectation to receive blessings from the Lord.”

Meditate on Scriptures Relating to God’s Promises of Peace
If we read and meditate on God’s Word and focus on His promises of peace, we will encourage ourselves to trust in Him to bring us peace in these troubled and perilous times. When we read biblical accounts of God fulfilling promises to Bible believers, we feel comforted and encouraged to put our hope and trust in Him. He told us, through Joshua (1:9), to “be strong and courageous; do not be afraid or dismayed, He is with us wherever we go.“ Therefore, we must trust and never doubt His Word. He will be faithful to us if we serve Him righteously.
Moreover, when we meditate on God’s Word, and specifically His fulfilled promises, we gain more knowledge and understanding about Him. And as a result, we are drawn closer to Him spiritually. Our fears dissipate and we feel hopeful that He will answer our prayers. His Word gives us peace and comfort when we believe wholeheartedly in His power and abilities to do anything.
Romans 15: 13 “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”
In closing, it is not easy to live in today’s precarious world without the peace of God that passes all understanding. We must be hopeful and trust that He will bring us peace and comfort, and protection according to His will and purpose for our lives. Jesus is our only source of peace, whether we need peace in our personal lives or peace to live in the state of this world. If we serve Him sincerely and righteously, His Holy Spirit will always be our guide, keeping us safe from all harms and dangers.
