How to Stay Focused on God
How do you stay focused on God when dealing with the busyness of life, and its challenges distracting you? And, when you’re waiting to hear from Him and He is silent, how do you keep your focus on Him and not on your problems? With those things considered, it is easy to get distracted from God and lose focus on Him. Because we try to mitigate our problems ourselves, without seeking His wisdom and guidance.
As Christians, we know the importance of relying on God to work out things for us. When we spend more time focused on Him, we spend less time with distractions and worrying about ourselves and our situations. Therefore, we must find ways to stay focused on Him, prioritize Him in our lives and seek His kingdom first, knowing that He will rescue us and provide for our needs in due time.
In this post, I want to suggest three simple ways to stay focused on God, and some Bible verses to meditate on and help keep you keep focused on Him.

Three Simple Ways to Stay Focused on God
1. Pray Daily. We all know that there’s power in prayer and God answers prayers. When we pray daily, we strengthen our relationships with Christ and increase our faith in Him. Prayer communicates to the Lord that we want to sustain a relationship with Him and that we want to hear from Him in return. This pleases Him because He wants to perfect what concerns us in life to make it better.
In addition, the more you spend time praying and becoming intimate with Him, the more you strengthen your relationship with Him and stay focused on God.
2. Get Rid of Distractions: Anything keeping us away from God is a win for the devil. One of the reasons we are unable to stay focused on God is because of distractions. We allow godless things to distract us from God; this is a scheme and the goal of the enemy. We also preoccupy our minds with our problems and circumstances, wondering how we will resolve them. When we’re too busy with life and focused on our problems, we don’t make time for the Lord. Instead, we’re always thinking of ways to manage and resolve our problems ourselves, not seeking the Lord’s help.
However, if we believe He will help us with our problems, then we will take them to Him in prayer and stay focused on God. But, we don’t believe, instead, we lean on our own understanding and wisdom and try to resolve our own problems and get distracted away from the Lord. Hence, getting rid of anything distracting you from Him helps you to stay focused on God.
3. Study the Word: Making studying the Word a part of our daily lives helps us gain more knowledge and understanding about the Lord. And, it helps us to increase our faith and confidence in Him.
Moreover, studying the Word helps us to memorize scripture and meditate on it. It also helps us apply the Word to our lives by living righteously and refraining from sin. King David saw the benefit in studying and meditating on the Word, he said, “Thy Word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee.” (Ps 119:11). Thus, studying the Word helps us stay focused on God.

To conclude, as Christians, we must remember that the trials we encounter in this world are inevitable because Jesus said that in this world, we would have tribulations and that we would find peace in Him. Therefore, we must not get distracted and lose sight of God and His mighty power in the midst of our busy lives and challenging times.
We must find ways to prioritize God and stay focused on Him. Practicing the three simple ways I provided, as well as meditating on the Bible verses will help you to keep your focus on Him.
